Basic rules for a good visual communication on social media - Play Creative Lab

In order to get your business and marketing messages across the social media networks, you will need to pay attention to some basic rules.

1. CONSIDER YOUR VISUAL CONTENT

To highlight a key point or a key post, you will certainly go for a static mini information as the most efficient way to get the message out. But if your goal is to share a story or explain a complex process, a motion graphic should fit better your needs.

2 . UNDERSTAND THE TYPE AND LIMITATION OF EACH SOCIAL MEDIA NETWORK

2 min or 120 sec is the ideal duration to grab your customers’ attention. However, if you post on Instagram, your video should not exceed 60 seconds and on Twitter no more than 140 seconds. So be careful to the standard format that are specific to each type of network.

3. OPTIMIZE THE SIZING OF YOUR VISUAL CONTENT

Every channel has a unique standard when it comes to sizing your visual content. So you need to respect those rules if you want to get the best from your visual communication. Make sure that you are aware constantly about those sizing standard that can evolve on a regular basis.

It also means that you have to produce different versions for each kind of social media network.

4. SIMPLICITY IS EFFICIENT

Keep it simple.

A clear and simple information will leave an efficient footprint in your customers’ mind so they will not struggle with complicated ideas.

5. USE YOUR BRAND IDENTITY

If your company has a brand guidelines, then follow and stick to it for all your social media contents. Your customers will recognize your brand identity at the first sight and then you will focus more on the content and message than on your graphic design choices.
